Teen Sensation Vaibhav Creates History with Blazing IPL Hundred
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, hits 2nd-fastest IPL century, T20 record
Rajasthan Royals' teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi makes history as the youngest-ever T20 centurion with a blistering 35-ball hundred against Gujarat Titans in the IPL.
At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name in history as the youngest male to score a century in Twenty20 cricket, leading Rajasthan Royals to a dominant eight-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in an IPL clash in Jaipur.
Suryavanshi unleashed a relentless assault on Gujarat’s bowlers on Monday, smashing 11 sixes and 7 boundaries in a breathtaking 101 off just 38 deliveries, helping his team chase down a daunting 209-run target in only 15.5 overs.
The young left-hander blasted his century in just 35 deliveries, making it the second-fastest in IPL history and the quickest ever by an Indian in the tournament, surpassing Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball ton for Rajasthan against Mumbai Indians back in 2010.
Teaming up with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi built a commanding 166-run opening stand that set the tone for the run chase.
“It feels incredible. Scoring my first IPL hundred in just my third match is something special,” said Suryavanshi, who was named Player of the Match.
“All the hard work before the season has paid off. I don’t overthink things—I just watch the ball and play. Scoring an IPL century has always been my dream, and today it came true. I play without fear and focus only on the game.”
"Big congratulations to young Vaibhav Suryavanshi for breaking my record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian," Yusuf Pathan shared on social media. "It’s even more meaningful to see it happen while representing Rajasthan Royals, just like I once did."
Suryavanshi first made waves when he signed an IPL contract at just 13 years old, becoming the youngest-ever player in the league’s history. Earlier this month, he made a bold debut, smashing a six off the very first ball he faced. Suryavanshi had earlier showcased his batting brilliance with a stunning triple century in a domestic competition held in his native Bihar.
The Rajasthan Royals, IPL champions in 2008, halted a frustrating five-match losing streak with their victory over Gujarat, climbing to eighth position in the league table.
